“I love the atmosphere in the office! I also love just being able to help students and parents with questions they have regarding their financial aid.” –Funsho
“What I like most about working in the financial aid office is helping people. I feel good in knowing that someone leaves our office with a better understanding of the financial aid process. I also appreciate the friendships that have developed between me and my co-workers, to the point where it’s not just a friendship at work, but also when work is over we can still have a bond.” –Denise
“In a large part we’re the intermediary between the government and students, but I like to think that we play an integral role in helping people go to college. I know I couldn’t attend UMBC without financial aid, and there’s something really substantial in being able to help someone better themselves. In my mind, education is a right, and UMBC makes that possible for thousands of students every year. That’s why I work here. We do good things.” –Mark
“What I like most about working at the Financial Aid Office is the work culture. It’s laid back, but still professional at the same time. My co-workers/friends are always nice to each other. The financial aid counselors are very friendly and are usually available to answer any questions we may have to better assist our students. Additionally, management is very approachable.” –Dominic
***Starting pay is $9.00/hour. Financial Aid knowledge is not required and all training will be paid.
