That’s right! The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships has Financial Aid Counselors for each student, based on their last name. Any time you have any questions or concerns regarding your financial aid, you can contact your counselor directly for more help. We are always happy to help our students! Remember, if you would like to come in to the office to meet with your counselor, you need to have an appointment. To set up an appointment you need to contact your counselor directly and arrange a time for you to come in to the office. If you do not need an appointment, then we can always be reached by phone and/or email. For a list of counselors and their contact information, please visit our website at http://www.umbc.edu/financialaid/contact.html.
It is important to note, that if your parents, guardians, or anyone else involved in your financial aid process contacts your counselor, there must be an Authorization for Release of Information form on file in order for us to release any detailed information to them. Your financial aid is private, personal, and protected, and we will only release information about it to people you give permission. If you would like to give permission to someone, you will need to complete and submit the form to the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. The Authorization for Release of Information form is found on our website at http://www.umbc.edu/financialaid/forms.html. General questions can always be asked at the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships front desk or by calling our general phone line at 410-455-2387; no authorization forms needed.
The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is open Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Our office is located pond side in the lower level of the library, adjacent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation.
